Mr. President: Stop the Steal!

Is America sinking into a Russian type of bureaucracy and dictatorship? Unless MAGA house members and MAGA Senators do their duty and take back oversight and the purse strings under Article One, this country is headed for bankruptcy. Our president is already close to $3 trillion over budget. They are lining up in the hallways of Washington DC; they are flying in with demands for a piece of the U.S. Treasury. No oversight. One man is getting to decide who he will pay off. The rule of law will save us, but we can’t wait until November. We can save $500 billion to a trillion dollars if we celebrate a 4^th of July event that gives us back Article 1 oversight, and control of the purse strings. Otherwise, we will have to wait until the end of January 2027 to bring back oversight.

MY BLOG

I started this blog in March of 2023 because I was worried about where our country was heading. I am now 89 years old, a grandfather and a small business retiree. I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, I love our country, and I love our flag. In the eighth grade I memorized the Gettysburg address. I've read literally hundreds of books on World War II, sports, and American history. I have voted for Republican governors in Michigan; George Romney and William Milliken. I voted for President Ronald Reagan, but all Democrats since then. I try to choose my representation by the word truth. Whoever it seems is the most truthful I will vote for. Right now, we are being served by a president who in his first four-year term had 30,000 documented lies told during his service. This is documented by the Washington Post and the Toronto star. Is it continuing now in his second term? You had better believe it. Fact check!

I am a Christian, dear reader and it is important to note I had two very good friends that have since died, one was an agnostic and the other one was an atheist. That did not play any part in our friendship, because both of them were of good conscience. I'm an army veteran with two older brothers buried in Arlington National Cemetery. One served in World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He stayed in the army and he and his wife are both buried at Arlington. The other brother, saw serious combat in Korea and suffered dearly from his experience in North Korea. I am bringing it up now because our military is going through so many changes, it makes my head spin. In 1957 after being drafted, I ended up in Germany and France. The GI in the upper bunk bed in France was black, named Charles Hardy III. Dear reader, I have never met a kinder, gentler human being than this man from Louisiana. Full of kindness, quietness, a gentle soul. He was admired by my entire platoon. The reason I bring that up is, Pete Hegseth has taken over the Department of Defense, and on instructions from the president, he has made life miserable for black Gis. The Chief of Staff who was black was let go immediately after the president took office and all black generals and female general officers were led to believe that they may have been promoted because of DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion). Now our president and Pete Hegseth want a structured miliary with fewer blacks and fewer women being promoted. To make matters worse, they are removing black photos from the Pentagon, and the Smithsonian Institute. Meanwhile there is an American cemetery of 8,000 GIs killed in Germany during WWII near the village of Margraten, Holland. The museum at the cemetery contained black soldier’s photographs which were removed by the Trump Administration. The Dutch immediately demanded they be put back. Now Trump and Hegseth have made it clear that all black field grade officer’s promotions will be stopped until further review. Think carefully about what I'm about to tell you. Remember all the changes are being made by the President of the United States who was a four-time draft dodger. He and his Secretary of Defense are making it clear to all of us that the U.S. Military is going to have a different way of doing business now. Even the professors at all the military academies are being reviewed for how they handle American history in the classroom. I empathize with every GI right now, and many of those on ships receive no mail and many on aircraft carriers are getting substandard rations. Fact check!

I watched the West Pointe graduation speech by Pete Hegseth this year and I was struck by the graduating cadets giving him only feeble applause. In his speech he boasted about how thorough he was as a lieutenant cornel and boasted that God was on his side. Apparently, he has forgotten what Abraham Lincoln said, “I want to be on God’s side”. We now have aircraft carriers at sea for almost a year. We have uncertain commands; we no longer have contingent planning. All military operations are only controlled by the President followed by the Secretary of Defense. We have now undeclared wars. We have international laws broken as we shoot speed boats out of the water without any proof that they are drug dealers. We have undeclared wars in Iran, declared by the president with the urging of Bebe Netanyahu. It seems, no one had any idea of the consequences of a war with Iran. The closing down of the Straits of Hormuz was not anticipated by the President or the Secretary of Defense. This seems peculiar because several commentators have said that the war like activities against Iran can be described as “fools rush in where angles fear to tread” quoting Alexander Pope from three centuries ago. We had a binding agreement, struck by the Obama Administration that covered nuclear weapons. This took 3 years to construct and many other nations including Russia blessed it. Now as we try to close down the mess we are in in Iran, many doubt that the new agreement will be better than the one struck by President Obama. We are now faced already according to Economists, with a $1 trillion loss over world economics because of the Straits of Hormuz being closed. There are estimates of $5 to $10 trillion to the world before this matter is settled completely. And the possibility of a world recession.

THE U.S. CONSTITUTOIN AND THE 4^TH OF JULY CELEBRATION

I intend to be blunt. When it comes to the United States Constitution, our president does not celebrate the names George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan. His favorite two presidents are Andrew Jackson and Andrew Johnson. Andrew Jackson took over the presidency in 1832 and he promptly fired every single federal employee. Then he forced six southern Indian tribes (amounting to 18,000 members) on a death march to Oklahoma. Andrew Johnson was the Vice President under Abraham Lincoln. When Lincoln was assassinated, Andrew Johnson was very kind to the white Confederate leaders and very slow to apply the 14th Amendment to the freed slaves. Now, who are our current president’s favorite foreign leaders? I have said for 10 years that President Donald Trump has Vladimir Putin envy. He also venerates former Hungarian leader Viktor Orban who he invited to his Golf Club. It should be noted that CPAC and Fox News pundits never criticize Vladimr Putin and have put Viktor Orban on a pedestal as well. Trump has done everything he could to support Orban’s 16-year dictatorship in Hungary. In April Trump sent a recorded speech to be played to the Hungarians by Vice President JD Vance who was in attendance. Vladimir Putin meanwhile had political operatives all over Hungary during the election. The result of that election was that 70% of the Hungarian citizens said goodbye to Viktor Orban. Note well that Victor Orban's son made over a billion dollars off his dad's position in politics. Sadly, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were in Hungary making negative remarks about NATO and the EU countries. This while they were supporting the dictator’s regime in Hungary. What's my point? Well, we're all Americans. We're all supposed to be following U.S. treaties and our allies. Remember at this very moment we are weakening NATO by indifference. We are weakening Ukraine because of the friendship and 90-minute telephone calls between our president and Vladimir Putin. Remember our president has many long telephone calls with Vladimir Putin. He turned down Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s request for Tomahawk missiles, because “Putin said that wasn’t a good idea”. Fact check!

THE U.S. CONSTITUTION

The U.S. Constitution was written by 55 men in Philadelphia in 1787 who said through their document that they were trying to find a “more perfect union”. One, better than the Articles of Confederation which were adopted shortly after the declared war with King George III in 1776. Those Founding Fathers had much of the political power in the United States. Many of them were wealthy, but they decided that despite all their power they would create a document to be made up, “of the people by the people and for the people”. In other words, they were walking away from their political power. George Washington, our first president for eight years said, “I do not want to be a king, I do not want to be a dictator” and he ultimately left the presidency peacefully and lawfully having respected all of our laws. Now our country has turned into a one-man band. President Donald Trump has 75 to 85% of all power. The only thing holding us together right now is the judiciary, the appellate and district courts, and all other state courts. The U.S. Supreme Court has weakened our U.S. Constitution by using political ideology instead of learned reasoned legal history. They expanded the rights of the President of the United States beyond what was intended by the U.S. Constitution by giving the executive branch more immunity while being president. This is extrajudicially beyond the intentions of our Founding Fathers. Might this put us at the brink of a full monarchy? You would have to be from Mars not to see what is happening before our very eyes in America at this moment. Remember King George III only asked Americans to pay more in taxes and to abide in the British troops who were keeping them free from Indian warfare. The colonists wanted freedom, they wanted freedom from taxation without representation. Now look where we are in 2026, where the middle class is going broke, using most of their credit in credit card debt because some states have gasoline at near $6 a gallon. Right now, in my local supermarket, blueberries are 2 1/2 times what they were three years ago. Potatoes, apples, and 99% of all other items are rising by over 3 percent a year. We should all empathize with the lower middle class who is trying to put their kids through school, clothe them and feed them. But instead, their tax dollars are going towards undeclared wars, into ballrooms, reflecting pools, Trump’s arches, and billions into detention centers created by no bid contracts. Unqualified ICE agents are hired and told to be cruel to “immigrants”. A majority of Americas are under stress right now. Remember we must not despair. We can overcome these problems with knowledge, prayer and protest. We must remember what minister Jonathan Edwards said, “hell is truth seen too late, duty neglected in its season”. The question: do those politicians who are putting our citizens through this suffering really give a damn?

PRESIDENT TRUMP’S IMMIGRATION POLICY

The President of the United States when he announced a run for president 10 years ago said his objective was to stop the immigrants who he said were murderers, rapists and mentally ill. He saw them as a total threat to our system of government. Forget about the U.S. farmers needing them, forget about our 250-year history of immigrants. They are, according to the president, not to be covered fully under the U.S. Constitution. He has made it clear that incoming immigrants will suffer under his presidency. He has made it clear more and more detention centers will be constructed to house the immigrant population, guilty or not. Remember these detention centers were set up by no-bid contracts, and the owners of the centers are paid by the head count and length of time incarcerated. In other words, the longer an inmate is kept in the center, the more money the owner makes. The object of the president’s immigration policy is cruelty. There is zero fair mindedness employed. Stephen Miller for ever and ever describes all immigrants as unworthy of any political fairness. He has declared they have a zero presumption of innocence, even though 85% of detention inmates have had no proper review under our U.S. Constitution. Their food is awful, their water is awful, their medical rights are nonexistent. They have less rights than convicts in our regular U.S. prisons. Stephen Miller, if you study your history, will remind you of Heinrich Himmler, head of all concentration camps in Germany. Fact check! The failure of this Administration, the failure of Fox News and Sean Hannity is that they keep it a secret that the immigration class and the green card class have a better record on criminal activities than the average American citizen. It’s the old trick used by this Administration, pick out a group to hate and to blame them for all the troubles of a country. Remember they are hiring ICE agents with little talent other than loyalty to the president. Remember right now in these detention centers virtually 80 to 90% of those being held are being held without proof of any criminal behavior. Now these detention centers frequently try to keep legitimate Senators and Congressmen who are legally entitled to drop in, are stopped at the door. This is a violation of our Constitution. People are dying there, they're starving there, they're actually losing their minds there. And what does Stephen Miller say? “Cruelty is the object”. Many Americans, especially President Donald J trump will never practice the political philosophy of Ronald Reagan. Ronald Reagan gave arms to the Afghan freedom fighters in 1986 who were fighting the Russians who were occupying their country. They were given Stinger missiles to shoot down Russian helicopters. The Russians pulled out of Afghanistan in 1989 having lost 16,000 troops. Ronald Reagan tore down the Berlin Wall and defeated the old Soviet Union and made them get out of Eastern Europe. Finally, Ronald Reagan boasted many times that we are an immigrant nation. Every American, to save our history, must know our history. Now there are no immigrants to help farmers, to help building trades, or to work in fast food restaurants. Immigrants who have come to America, do a job, put their kids through college, and now look what we have in the U.S. House and Senate, many many representatives whose parents were born outside the United States.

AMERICA’S INSTITUTIONS

We are now going through literal hell in a lot of our American institutions, HHS, USAID, EPA and Education and many more. Our universities, our medical facilities, many law firms, and many corporations are told what they can believe. For example, if any of these institutions believe in diversity, equity and inclusion, they will not receive federal funding. We now have upwards of 300,000 layoffs from our institutions including 30,000 from the Veterans Administration. Elon Musk called federal employee’s “weeds”, who as head of DOGE, said we have to get rid of those institutions or the “weeds” will come back. Fact check! Dear reader this is a man with hundreds of billions of dollars worth of government contracts. This is a man with too many billions to count, as he receives more government contracts than we will ever know. This is a successful engineer from South Africa who built a Tesla car, because he thought it would be the automobile of the future. But now because of our president, Elon Musk no longer believes that global warming or climate change is a threat to the world. Why? Who knows, but many have said he will be on the very first rocket headed to Mars, when he thinks the Earth environment may not be safe enough.

It will take us years to reestablish our institutions, our natural science and medical science. Note well that Project 2025 in which Vice President JD Vance wrote the prologue, and Kevin Roberts and Russ Vought master minded the body of the written project. They suggest very negatively our institutions are all a failure because of the “wokes” who bothered many of the corporate leaders with too many regulations and too much oversight. A reminder to the voter that all of our institutions were created by the U.S. Constitution under our laws. DOGE is now the cause of over 1 million deaths of children and adults, from starvation and lack of medicine as a result of shutting down USAID. They stopped all delivery of millions of tons of already paid for food and medicine destined for Africa. Fact check! John F Kennedy set up USAID as soft power and to convince the world that America was a sharing nation. In 1962 the United States spend 3% of its budget on foreign aid. Right now, it is way less than 1%. Does anyone care? I will tell you who cares. I care, Pope Francis (deceased) and Pope Leo XIV care, those 92 Protestant ministers who protested in the Minneapolis airport because of the deportation of so-called immigrants, all cared. Does anyone else care about all these wrongs? Meanwhile President Trump accuses those of us who care, including the Popes and 92 ministers as being “soft on crime”. I am so sorry to have to remind the American voter that our president has an ego the size of a basketball and a heart smaller than a golf ball. He seems to want a wallet full of money that when he sits on it, he will be taller than one of his arches. He seems to judge everything by dollar value, not good deeds. His oligarch and billionaire class all seem to have an unlimited desire to be trillionaires. It is apparent that over half of American billionaires do not believe humans have a soul.

WHAT IS THE REMEDY RIGHT NOW IN AMERICA?

President Donald Trump is now like a president of a giant corporation with a board of directors that have zero input on what the bank can do. He can run it as if he is playing baseball with no umpires and no foul lines. He can wheel and deal for himself and for his MAGA followers with impunity and with immunity. The latest polls now show that 67% of the people of the United States polled disapprove of the President of the United States. They disapprove of his wars, they disapprove of him stopping SNAP benefits, they disapprove of his slush funds, they disapprove of his no bid contracts, they disapprove of his enrichment of his personal estate by $4 billion since he's been president. They disapprove of him punishing anyone that disagrees with him using the DOJ and the FBI as his personal attorneys to carry out his wishes of retribution. He has demanded DOJ attorneys create laws that will impact his perceived enemies. Remember he is using taxpayers’ money to chase people all over the country because he doesn't like them! He is getting late night TV hosts fired. We're getting 60 Minutes correspondence having to quit because they want to give the truth in the news. Brandon Carr head of the FCC has never heard of the Fairness Doctrine Law. It was passed in 1947 and closed down in 1987. It was passed to make sure that anything on government airwaves was delivered politically fair. Now Mr. Carr, warns ordinary Americans with ordinary political views could even be punished because they laugh at television parlance. Meanwhile Fox News pundits have an absolute free ride on whatever they say. This also applies to Kentucky representative James Comer and Speaker of the House Michael Johnson. They are allowed to say, in and out of the Capitol building, whatever they want, truth or no truth. I am only writing this to remind you that for 250 years this has been the United State of America where the First Amendment is held up to high esteem. The right to legal protest cannot be interfered with. And if some of us see Fox News pundits praising disinformation, misinformation and lies as they kiss the ring of their leader. Ordinary citizens are not allowed to comment on that?

I could go on and on and on but I will close with two items. I am 89 years old and I'm not in the best of health. But the United States Constitution gives me the right to protest. My God gives me the right to pray that the United States of America will survive our current president. Remember what Patrick Henry said in 1775 in a Richmond Virginia Church in front of Thomas Jefferson, “give me liberty or give me death” and after that Nathan Hale, a 22 year old American being hung as a spy by the British said, “I regret that I have but one life to give for my country”.

We were taught the above in history in all our public schools, let us not forget it! Is America sinking into a Russian type of bureaucracy and dictatorship? Yep! We will survive by a rebuttal of the lies, the misinformation, and the constant threat of retribution, as we do everything we can to seek truth and patriotism.
