Mr. President, Why is our U.S. Treasury Flat Broke?

Who would believe that after 250 years the United States is halfway to an authoritarian society. Here are several of the authors that put us in this position; the Christian right, SCOTUS, the Heritage Foundation, the Federalist Society, and Notre Dame Law School of all things. Remember, each one has played a role in suggesting that America is run by “woke” people who do not love their country. They want to redo our entire political framework, giving power over to a Unitary Executive with immunity over his Executive decision making. Now power, money and disinformation will replace that ideal reason used by our Founding Fathers.

The game is up, the TRUTH must take over, right now!

Nine years ago, I felt that President Donald Trump had made a total conversion, favoring Soviet style government. He had obvious Vladimir Putin envy. The Mueller Report showed that in the 2016 election, over 100 Russian operatives were involved in the Trump campaign for president. They assisted him in his defeat of Hillary Clinton with underground negative coverage of her campaign. After he won his victory, he showed quickly that he had signs of “divide and conquer techniques”. He picked the immigrants as the evil ones, similar to Adolf Hitler in 1934 using the Jews as an object of hostility. He further adopted the Soviet style of lies, disinformation and wedge issue after wedge issue. He thought he could even make the military loyal to him instead of their pledge to the U.S. Constitution first. He constantly thinks that he has no obligation to turn over personal information, tax records or whatever. He tries to match Putin in the pursuit of power and money. Also, like Putin he is humorless, arrogant and ego driven, while both are good at intimidation.

President Donald Trump has the Soviet form of picking department heads, associates and employees. The Soviet style demands 100% loyalty first, talent is secondary. The Soviets originated this description of their committed followers: “dupes, stooges and willing idiots”. If anyone resists, especially after an original commitment, they are quickly subject to retribution and revenge and in the case of Putin, Siberia or a mysterious fall out of a six-story window. They have no fear that there is a just God. Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump feel their judgments are superior and can be used against all of their critics. The biblical phrase, “vengeance is mine, sayeth the Lord”, is brushed aside by both men without a thought. It seems peculiar because leaders like Henry VIII and Valdimir Lenin both died very concerned about the possibility of eternal suffering in the afterlife.

The Soviets and Donald Trump also fully and completely subscribed to lies and disinformation, often hourly per day. The Soviets, years ago quickly picked the Russian word Pravda, meaning truth, as the name of their government’s “news” paper. Meanwhile our president gets his word out on Truth Social. He suggests all accusations against him by the “hated” Democratic opposition is a hoax. Comedians, newspapers, former girlfriends that make accusations are all labeled as “fake”. He has an abiding favoritism to Fox “News” pundits especially Sean Hannity and former pundit Tucker Carlson. If any pundits at Fox News or CPAC even detracts a little from full support, they get a scolding message and rebuke. Our president repeats over and over that the press, newspapers and most television coverage of him is “fake news”.

His friendship with Vladimir Putin is sustaining. He even joked to Putin’s face that he was surprised Russia could not knock off Ukraine in three days. Fact check! He cannot bring himself to continue the U.S. military support that President Joe Biden had given to the Ukraine nation. Despite being a member of NATO, and trading friends with the EU countries, our president is always trending toward a neutral position between Ukraine and Russia. I am sure it is causing past President Ronald Reagan, who was victorious over Russian tactics, to roll over in his grave.

President Trump is fully consumed by fellow authoritarians. He admires Benjamin Netanyahu’s ability to maintain power for almost two decades in Israel. He has long admired Viktor Orban of Hungary and recently he became very upset that his counterpart in Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro was tried and convicted for insurrection and sentenced to over 20 years in prison. As a reprisal the U.S. President raised the tariffs on Brazil by 50%. Now he has another authoritarian in Argentina that is having financial difficulty, and he is actually contemplating a $20 billion gift to help his friend. Meanwhile, he, Elon Musk and JD Vance are all vociferous in their support of right-wing candidates throughout the EU countries especially if they are leaning towards authoritarianism.

Our president now makes it clear that he hates his opponents (the heretofore loyal opposition). He now engages in tactics of punishment toward Blue states. He cuts Blue states’ Federal funding; he sends in the military on the so-called belief that they need help with crime. He has slated many Blue states to begin receiving unwanted National Guard and perhaps other divisions of the military despite facts and evidence that crime is down in all of those cities. He even hinted to 800 generals that the “crime within” the United States might require military assistance and suggested using the military in some states for combat training. He has overstated the problem and exaggerated the problem. When the National Guard went to Washington D.C. on his behalf, restaurant owners were complaining that the sight of so much military was scaring off their restaurant business. Within two days the President of the United States and please fact check this, stated it is now safe to eat in restaurants in Washington D.C. and they're doing a big business. Again, fact check! Who cares about truth and facts? Remember he dodged the draft and now wants to remake the U.S. military. He wants to make all the soldiers thinner and more dedicated, and seems to want them to get used to the idea of going after American citizens. He also now suggests that he can violate international laws and domestic laws regarding warfare issues. He says he will continue to destroy watercraft outside of Venezuela that might have drugs headed for the United States. He has no compunction that he is supposed to have legislative approval before using warfare tactics. The American military who takes an oath to support only legal commands now is faced with having to perform tactics that are not approved by the Legislature. He now suggests that there is an enemy within our country. Is he referring, perhaps to those of us who are not interested in having a wannabe dictator or a monarch as a leader? I have studied the president for years, I love God, I love our U.S. Constitution, I love our flag. I was in the military as a draftee for two years, in 1956/57. I loved every single day of my time spent in Europe where I was stationed. I have two older brothers buried in Arlington National Cemetery, both survived heavy combat. I am against the current layoffs at the Veterans Administration. I am against any violation of our U.S. Constitution that might suggest our military can switch allegiance from the Constitution to a person. We are not yet a dictatorship or monarchy. I am 88 years old and not in favor of losing our freedom or our liberty over a determined power and money politician. The president is on a wild journey of accumulating wealth. It is now reported that he has doubled his estate wealth just since being president. The “Peoples Whitehouse” is now a Casino Royale selling $100,000 watches, gold shoes, meme coins, acquiring dark money, playing favorites over tariffs, and hurting our relationships with Canada and Mexico. Still, he boasts constantly about all the money he is bringing in for the U.S Treasury, trillions and trillions he says! Oops! Please dear reader, check the national debt clock running 24-7. Since he took office, we have spent $1.2 trillion (as of 10-1-25) more than we have brought in. Please fact check and let's demand a reason over why we are going broke so fast. Remember, their “Big Beautiful Bill” has already had to build in a deficit projection of $3.5 trillion. How does Wall Street feel about this deficit? They believe Artificial Intelligence, the President, and his tariffs will cover their bets. What if 10 million American citizens lose their jobs? What if our farmers continue to not have a market to sell their crops? What if our market economy no longer has reliable economic data that can be used for planning. Are we now committed to believe whatever the Unitary Executive says? It appears so, and you can be sure that whatever he says will lack facts or evidence.

Project 2025 now fully out in the open after being hidden from the American public during the presidential campaign, and it is crushing our established Institutions using DOGE earlier run by Elon Musk. His favorite tactic was to arrive unannounced using bulldozers because he felt the Institution must be taken down or the weeds (Federal Employees) would grow back. He boasted of getting rid of waste, fraud and abuse. Was he subtle and professional? No, he was not. And he suffered from lack of governmental judgment, using raw business tactics instead. Well, how about the waste fraud and abuse, how much did he uncover? He couldn’t produce viable facts or evidence. A lot of rumor and a lot of big talk is all we got out of him. And the myth of all the waste, fraud and abuse turned out to be pure poppycock used to destroy Federal employees. Seldom is there proof of more than three or four percent according to past history relative to waste, fraud and abuse. But now the MAGA crowd uses it as a punching bag to scare the public. Is it disgraceful. For sure!

The lies, innuendo and exaggeration rendered against our Federal Institutions just may go down in history as the most ignorant ideological reasons for collapsing our many Institutions. And to call the Federal Employees “weeds” is beyond un-professional.

For example, let's take a look at USAID, it’s been around since 1962 as a foreign aid agency created by President John F. Kennedy. That year we had three percent of our budget in foreign aid and this year it is less than one percent. Fact check! We are no longer a giving nation. In February 2025, USAID was stopped from spending any more money, even though there was proper funding approved earlier by the Legislature. The results? Now, please check this more than once! Over 150,000 children mostly from Africa and other parts of the world have starved to death because the food never reached them. Much of it rotted in warehouses because they had no funds to deliver the food out of storage. Elon Musk never explained what happened, never cared what happened. In fact, Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world made a public statement “the poorest of the world were starved to death by the richest”. And the other victim of the way USAID was handled? The American farmer. The American farmer for years has made much of their income from USAID work. Now because the United States is losing its soul by the hour, we are no longer putting our farmers to work over exporting crops. The problem? We have no oversight. No one in the Trump Administration cares about the shameful waste of food and loss of our nation’s reputation throughout the world from the shuttering of USAID. Do any voters care?

Remember our president, Donald Trump set a record for over spending $7.6 trillion during his first term. And also remember, practically every day, he remarks on how bad a job Joe Biden had done. And he is joined by Fox “News” pundits regularly using the same charge. It makes no sense after nearly a year in office that our former president has to have so much anger aimed at him. Yet dear reader in February 2024, over 100 political science professors in a polling over ranking American presidents, Joe Biden was ranked 14th out of 46 U.S. Presidents and Donald Trump was ranked dead last on his first term. Please fact check.

From a religious point of view, I find it disturbing to see Attorney General Pam Bondi with a crucifix necklace reviling the ordinary loyal opposition with anger and hostility. Press Secretary Karoline Levitt stood before the press threatening to find those who turned off the escalator at the UN and messed with the speech teleprompter. What? It had already been shown that President Trump’s operatives had made the mistakes. She also wears a crucifix. Is it any of my business that they wear a crucifix. No, it is not. But it is hard to watch so called “Christians” revile so many folks, abusing and accusing with few facts or evidence. The crucifix represents someone who preached “love one another as I have loved you”. I believe a better idea for these two public servants, who so ardently want to represent President Trump, should make necklaces out of a Trump meme coin and wear that around their neck! Finally, dear reader, Donald Trump defies traditional science, he questions vaccines, he says climate change is a hoax even though 95% of the Worlds glaciers are melting, the oceans are rising, heat records are often broken annually and forest fires throughout the world are tormenting the population. He does not care about 420 PPMs of CO2 in the atmosphere; the highest in over 100,000 years according to scientific ice samples. He states almost daily that he hates windmills, and feels all of these EPA restrictions are a waste of time. And of course Russ Vought, OMB and one of the fathers of Project 2025 was in on the lack of science.

Now our president, VP JD Vance, Speaker Mike Johnson, and the Fox News pundits keep saying the loyal opposition wants to pay ineligible, undocumented immigrants, Medicare and Medicaid coverages. They all stated in unison that lie to fool the voter, it is disgraceful BS. If the Executive Branch is given full and total control of all information provided to the public, rather than the Federal Reserve and the Bureau of Labor Statistics (covering unemployment and inflation), we will be in for some tragic surprises in the future.

Now are we going to allow a President who was fact checked for four years in his first term by the newspapers the Washington Post and Toronto Star who documented 30,000 lies. Fact check! Has our president in his second term continued what he did in the first term? You betcha! If this is allowed to continue with out constant fact checking then the fabric and soul of American will become nonexistent. The president has been granted immunity over his executive decisions, by the Supreme Court. We now see next to no accountability, no transparency, and just a virtual king Solomon type of riches going into his estate. Saint Peter said, “pay your taxes”, sadly the president seems above and beyond all of the rules. We no longer have inspectors general, no JAG corp, and no longer a Legislative Branch to counter his behavior or his activities. It’s as if we are preparing to crown a monarch.

The new cruel ideology has created an existence that eliminates diversity, equity and inclusion for all of our citizens. They have instructions that no corporation who uses DEI will be given any federal contracts. They have sought to change the military over DEI. This is the final icing on the cake of 2025 American politics. Trust me, the angels are weeping. Pope Leo frequently cites so many the U.S. faults in America especially over immigrants.

Can America rise up and recapture our freedom and liberty that so many over the years have fought to maintain? It is now down to the wire of history, no doubt. If we buy into this new cruel destructive path, we really will have rotted from within. Let’s follow a just loving God, and bring along all of those Americans who want moral government leadership. Let us not let down those who signed the Declaration of Independence, who constructed the U.S Constitution or especially those 400,000 GI’s who died for us in World War II to save our freedom and liberty when it was most at risk. If we only think of the future for our children and grandchildren, we cannot fail.

Finally, patriotism for our flag and our U.S. Constitution is what George Washington asked of all Americans in 1792.
