President Richard Nixon and Watergate: 69 indicted, 48 Convictions

History predicts that without a vision, the people perish. What’s needed right now is a rebirth, a reaffirmation of the rule of law under our U.S. Constitution that fully embraces checks and balances. We must grasp and understand that unusual spirituality embraced by George Washington, Ben Franklin and the other 53 Founding Fathers in Philadelphia in 1787. They took over three months in the hot summer to produce “the people’s” pollical Bible called the U.S. Constitution.

Lining up for the insurance pardons that are given to ALL MAGA appointees for their loyalty?

Maybe it's time to make a comparison between Watergate and the MAGA Administration over several issues. Let's allow the reader to decide whether there's any merit in the comparison.

Those indictments cited above over Watergate did not include the 20 corporate cases where they plead guilty to wrongdoing. Jail time was served by Nixon’s Attorney General, FBI leaders, many appointees and close associates as well. It was a sorry time for all of those political operatives of the Nixon Administration. Most of them seldom feared conviction for what they had done until it was too late. Many of them later expressed remorse for having been caught up in the wave of Watergate.

President Nixon resigned his office on August 9^th, 1975 after being pressured by Republican party Senators. Several months later President Gerald R. Ford pardoned him. Remember, the thrust of Watergate was abuse of power in the Executive Branch. It was an attempt by President Nixon to use power that he did not have.

DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE QUOTES

Now I would like to take a few excerpts from the Declaration of Independence which was full of citations of alleged wrongdoing by George III of England. For example:

He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has erected a multitude of new offices and sent hither alarms of offenses to harass our people.

For depriving us in many cases of the benefits of trial by jury.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us.

A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Dear reader this is the last sentence in the Declaration of Independence: “And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.

PRESIDENT TRUMP'S POSITIONS TO STUDY

1 Attempting to eliminate most checks and balances outlined in the U.S. Constitution.

2 He kept Project 2025 and DOGE unannounced from the voters knowledge until after the presidential election. Now our Institutions are being crushed, willy nilly.

3 He is in full control of tariffs and makes decisions politically, not using reason. Canada, our number one trading partner, is now turning to China in some respects, as a more reliable partner.

4 He does not desire to be the “leader of the free world.” He embraces many countries with authoritarian political views instead. He was the only president since 1945 to not accept that leadership.

5 He, Elon Musk, and VP Vance solicits and assists emerging or active authoritarians throughout the world. The new leader of Argentina, Javier Milei, received a $20 billion U.S. taxpayer assist to get elected.

6 He unleashes spending at an alarming rate. His first term in office he was $7.6 trillion over budget, a record for a first term president. This fiscal year 2025 we are already $1.78 trillion in the red. Our national debt, November 22, 2025, is at $38.3 trillion. This amounts to $112,398 per person in the United States. It is projected that the national debt in January of 2027 will be $40 trillion. Remember our revenue flow into the U.S. Treasury is less than $6 trillion per year!

7 The U.S. military has recently purged the freedom of the press, reorganized the power structure and then weakened the JAG Corp. GI’s may have nowhere to go if they have an objection over an illegal command.

8 The Washington Post and Toronto Star in his first term, cited over 30,000 lies by this president, fully fact checked. Half-truths, exaggerations and innuendos were not cited.

9 Now he uses Truth Social daily to promote lies, half-truths and exaggerations, on many occasions.

10 His MAGA followers and Fox News pundits accept and promote his disinformation often without a truth filter, or any fact checking.

11 Institutions have become tormented and declared full of “weeds” (Federal employees so named by Elon Musk). Project 2025 came up with a description of Institutions that were created by “wokes”, which they thought needed to be eliminated.

12 The EPA, started by Richard Nixon, has been rendered useless by Project 2025 and DOGE as the environment becomes a total dead issue. This despite the fact that 99% of climate scientists say that climate change is a proven fact. The Trump Administration is very weak on science.

13 USAID was founded in 1962, by President John F. Kennedy. In February 2025 all properly funded food deliveries were halted. Remember the food was grown by American farmers and was left in warehouses to rot instead of continuing its journey to thousands of starving children throughout the world. Because the deliveries were stopped, over 150,000 African children died of starvation. Please fact check this terrible outcome.

14 He wants cuts in SNAP benefits, ACA and Medicare. He needs it to finance his billions of dollars of tax cuts to the rich, it seems. Fact check!

15 He governs by Executive Fiat with no Legislative input. He seems to have control of all government operations, institutions, the D.O.J., universities, some private law firms, The Smithsonian Institute, and the Kennedy Center operations.

16 Executive power most times is now only aimed at helping MAGA followers. Especially in the area of pardons and money matters.

17 The White House no longer belongs to “the people”, he makes virtually all decisions over the handling of that building without consulting others. When he tore down the East Wing of the White House to put up a ballroom, there was no oversight or transparency.

18 He has stopped all oversight emanating from the Legislative Branch. There is no transparency, no oversight and no accountability except for the Judicial Branch, which is fighting to maintain the rule of law.

19 Todd Blanche, 2nd in command at the DOJ, spoke recently in front of the Federalist Society and suggested the Judiciary has too many liberals, even accusing those appointed by Trump.

20 The Attorney General seems to make it clear that she does the bidding of the Executive Branch not the U.S. Constitution.

21 Now DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion) is an invention of “wokes” and must now be eliminated.

22 Universities and corporations, who practice DEI will no longer receive government contracts.

23 The U.S. military has reexamined all promotions searching for any use of DEI results that were used for promotions.

24 Gifts to the president are no longer enforced by the U.S. Constitution as far as putting some controls on what a U.S. president is eligible to receive. Dear reader, he has doubled his personal wealth since being elected in November of 2024. Be sure to fact check this!

25 He respects Viktor Orban, Vladimir Putin and many other authoritarians more than George Washington, Abraham Lincoln or Ronald Reagan. CPAC and Fox News pundits often espouse similar views toward authoritarians. Even inviting Viktor Orban to speak at several of their meetings.

26 Power and money now seem to drive the Executive Branch daily

27 He still promotes the proper election of Joe Biden in 2020 as “rigged”. For some reason he is still “shadow boxing”, because there is no opponent in the entire affair. He and his MAGA followers have offered no facts, no evidence and no proof that the 2020 election was illegitimate. He remains in a make-believe world over the 2020 election. Ironically, his followers must believe the B.S. or be accused of being disloyal.

28 Our president suggests the loyal opposition is really the enemy of the people. He believes undocumented immigrants can be arrested anywhere, anytime by masked men who have received a $50,000 bonus as they pick up many “brown people” in the community. Too often the rule of law and due process is complexly abandoned, for those picked up off the streets.

Dear reader, fact check all of the above and let me know if I have mis-spoken in any area. My intention is to promote truth for the good of the U.S. Constitution and our country. (Furthermore, I would appreciate it if the reader would put this prediction in a drawer to be opened January 15^th, 2027. That is the date the U.S. will have reached $40 trillion in national debt.)

We must contrast and distinguish between George Washington and President Donald Trump. George Washington was very rich and very powerful, but he did not want to be a king, a dictator after he defeated the British and King George III. He wanted all power to be given to “the people”. Therefore he simply rejected all opportunities to become more powerful. He served eight years as President of the United States and relinquished his power with honor and decency.

Now our president, as I see it, has ambitions for more power and much more money supported by his actions. I see that political stance as un-American, anti-American and possibly illegal according to the U.S. Constitution.

We must direct our attention to seeking a better world free of chaos, conflict and division. We must give “the people” a united government for the sake of our children and grandchildren.

“The people” can keep that document alive and well practicing E pluribus unum. FREEDOM AND LIBERTY, must be continuously protected if we are to follow in the footsteps of those unique Founding Fathers. All political parties, all religious parties, all non-religions parties must lock arms as one, dropping our differences to keep our county free, with liberty and justice for all.

Let us all acknowledge and pray to a just God that we are up to the task.

Postscript: Just before I was going to submit my blog I saw that without any consideration given to NATO or EU Countries, the U.S. presented a Peace Agreement for Ukraine to sign. It was at first suggested they had no choice but to sign the 28-part agreement. Several U.S. Senators who saw the agreement said it appears as though the Russians had actually written the agreement.

Dear reader, please remember in the 2016 election, according to the Mueller Report, the Trump presidential campaign had 100 Russians operatives assisting them. I said then, 9 years ago, Donald Trump had Putin Envy. It remains that way today. Remember, every past president has aligned with the free nations of the world. When the Ukrainians, several months ago, asked for Tomahawk missiles, Donald Trump said no because “Putin did not like the idea”.

My view on the Russian invasion of Ukraine? We do not want to lose any more freedom loving countries to despotism. If President Ronald Reagan read this new peace agreement given to Ukraine, he would have laughed or even cried out of sympathy and empathy for the suffering of the Ukrainian people.

Freedom loving Americans must pray for Ukraine. Every American, no matter what religion or no religion, rich or poor, must show their love of country and love of freedom, by remembering our democracy, our Republic, is not a spectator’s sport. It is indeed time for all freedom-loving citizens in this great country to show their patriotism and loyalty to the flag. We must all come to the aid of our country.
