What is at Risk… Just Our Freedom!

Here is what I see as a practical matter by the SCOTUS decision making, over the Black and Latino voting rights outcome. I really believe Abraham Lincoln and President Lyndon Johnson are rolling over in their graves with disappointment because of the decision to deprive these groups of an easy way to vote. The actions of those six members of the Supreme Court are wrapped up in their own political ideology and not legal reasoning. Most of them have expressed their opinions for years over the Voting Rights Act with a negative personal opinion of its efficacy. They have now thwarted fairness outcomes because of this decision.

Three cheers for our District and Lower Court judges!

THE DOCUMENT

The U.S. Constitution was created by 55 Americans (Founding Fathers), in Philadelphia in 1787 as a response to the failure of the Articles of Confederation. These Articles had been written shortly after the war began with King George III of England in 1776. That earlier document failed because of no central mission, no ability to tax, trade, or print money and finally there was no military. George Washington saw the weakness in the Articles and was very concerned about the future political stance of America. In short, the most influential American politicians led by George Washington met in 1787 to search for a “more perfect union”, one that would be “of the people, by the people, and for the people”. This was a rather startling condition for men of political power to just give it up. They studied and studied for three months in a hot summer in Philadelphia, and they ended up with a three-part document; the Legislative, the Executive, and the Judicial. Each one was to perform oversight on the others. They also passed a Bill of Rights to protect the American citizens from their government. It was highlighted by the 1st Amendment and the ability to assemble and to protest. Was this the most impactful document given to man since the Magna Carta? Many think yes. Now remember, when it finally took effect in 1789, George Washington was President. He made it clear he did not want to be a king or a dictator. Our Founding Fathers were unique in regard to political power. They knew the dangers of too much power in one man. And they knew “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely”. Are the voters in the U.S. confronted with such a possibility right now? You betcha!

NOW WHAT IN 2026, 250 YEARS LATER?

Now we are looking for the reason why we have given up on checks and balances. Almost 75% of the power now emanates from the Executive branch. A government of an autocracy is now almost 80% underway. Plato said 3,000 years ago that democracies pass into despotism. Our Founding Fathers were afraid of that very outcome. Would the Founding Fathers be surprised that their document, the U.S. Constitution has lasted almost 240 years? Probably, but it isn’t over yet, we can still keep from failing completely and losing our “more perfect union”.

WHERE ARE WE HEADED?

For the past 18 months the President of the United States Donald Trump has been engaged in too much mayhem and chaos. He sends messages daily on “Truth” Social and constantly gets more news coverage than any other politician in the history of the United States. His style of governance includes too many untruths, innuendos, and outright lies. In his first four years in office, it was documented that he had told untruths over 30,000 times, according to the Washington Post and the Toronto star. He has not changed at all in his second term as president.

Remember he hires and fires all cabinet members and appointees demanding loyalty and loyalty to him only. And of all the peculiar and weird situations arising out of his second term, it is the one that he forces on his appointees to deny that Joe Biden won the 2020 election for president that is the most perplexing. This is even though there is no proof, no facts, and no evidence offered, to this day, that that election was rigged or dishonest. During that period in time (2019) President Trump had a 40% approval rating before the vote. This situation is costing millions of dollars because of this continuous drive still going on searching for answers that will never be found, because it is all wrapped up in deception, fog, smoke and mirrors. It is totally disgraceful that the MAGA followers go along with this scam. Why does the president get to continue using this ongoing deception? Is it because he knows his followers will believe anything he tells them? This should be offensive to every fair-minded American voter.

Meanwhile, now the president since taking office for his second term, is ardently searching for more power, more wealth (he has added $4 billion to the value of his personal estate after taking office), and demanding more retribution for anyone that has criticized him or tried to legally hold him to account. The rule of law and the U.S. Constitution seem to be no concern for him. Remember, for over 10 years he has had Vladimir “Putin envy”. He also admires and envies the tactics of Viktor Orban of Hungary. Now in April the Hungarian government was voted out by over 70% of the voters in that country. This was a shock for President Donald Trump and Russian premier Vladimir Putin. They both had tried very hard to help maintain Viktor Orban’s command of Hungary. Remember in this election in Hungary, the freedom loving people won even with two astounding situations. There was no freedom of the press, and there were no television rights for the opposition available. Viktor Orban had controlled all communications. Yet the people won handily. Meanwhile Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance and of course President Trump had made many attempts to persuade the voters to keep Victor Orban in power. The disgraceful part about giving their support to Viktor Orban was that they were diminishing ardently the European Union and the power of NATO. This is a total disregard of the 75-year position of the United States that has led the free countries of the world up until now. Is it now the passing of an era where the United States disregards its past history? You betcha! We are barely hanging on to freedom and liberty at home. Six members of the Supreme Court several years ago gave the President of the United States immunity power and has allowed many more questionable actions by the president to be allowed. All power in most areas is shifting to the Executive branch because of the above. We have also lost Article one of the U.S. Constitution because the MAGA House and Senate have surrendered their duty to the U.S. Constitution thus giving up the purse strings and oversight when they turned their power over to the Executive branch. Would our Founding Fathers have been bewildered at such a dismantling of checks and balances in such a dishonorable way? Yep!

HARD WORK AND HOPE

Is there any hope for our countries dramatic drop in the meaning of the rule of law? Yes, there is. Remember, it is a sin to despair. So, one answer among many is to remember the recent Hungarian vote. That country was subdued for 14 years with little hope of ever being free again, yet they stood up courageously against Vladimir Putin, Viktor Orban and Donald Trump and won. They prevented anymore stealing of their freedom and liberty. And again remember, they did it without a Free Press and no television coverage for the opposition. And we must also study the successes of Ukraine against the invaders from Russia as they are still engaged in keeping their country from total defeat. Their example should be applauded by every free county of the world.

American voters next November must protect their freedom and liberty. And they do it by an overwhelming patriotic reaction to the situation we are now in. Think of the Americans, the minorities, the Blacks and Latinos that pay their taxes and died in military battles for our flag, but now the Supreme Court, the Executive branch of government and the MAGA Republican House and Senate are forcing these groups back to the days of Jim Crow. Is this a big mistake? Yes, constitutionally, morally, and financially. The cost in many ways will harm our honor to not give equal voting rights to every citizen.

All Americans that love freedom and liberty, our flag, our rule of law, the 1st Amendment and the right to assemble, simply have to rise up and prevent more nonsense, simply by using prayer and legal protest. If we unify, not according to party, but according to truth, that will keep our freedom and liberty alive. The need is for a rebirth of the spirituality that our Founding Fathers held and an ideal ,as they wanted to give their people “a more perfect union”. The rule of law should not, and never will be, eliminated in America, if “the people” decide to stop the theft of the great gift of freedom the Founding Fathers gave to every citizen of this great country.

SCOTUS

I have to comment on the Supreme Courts recent case over the Voting Rights Act. Please understand you do not have to be a lawyer to serve on the Supreme Court or to comment on the activities of the Supreme Court.

Most of them have expressed their opinions for years over the Voting Rights Act with a negative personal opinion of its efficacy. They have now thwarted fairness outcomes because of this decision. Should this not have forced them into recusing themselves from this important decision? History and God will decide. In the meantime, there is no doubt that the angels are in tears over this cruelty to people who simply want a fair chance to vote. Every Black and Latino American citizen has to pay taxes and has to obey the laws of our country. So, paying taxes and some having died for their county in the past, but their survivors are not being allowed to vote easily and properly? That is a sin. It ends up being simply cruel and unusual to allow fellow Americans to be treated as second-class citizens. The decision of six member of SCOTUS should offend all fair-minded American voters.

Dear reader we can and should unify and protest every aspect of the violation of our U.S. Constitution!

A FINAL “WHAT NOW”?

Dear reader if we fight back legally and properly, we can create a rebirth of the spirituality of George Washington and our Founding Fathers and recapture American honor and dignity along the way.

Now Catholic Popes are renouncing the American treatment of immigrants. Many Protestant ministers, people of other faiths and even “non-believers” are objecting loudly. Polls show the majority of Americans object to the cruelty being inflicted on immigrants. Too many MAGA operatives in the Executive branch and DHS controlling ICE, seem to encourage this cruelty.

We all should be duty bound to maintain our position in the free world. Those free countries for 75 years have looked up to us and in many cases envied us. Now we are losing our reputation throughout the world for our lack of truth and for not seeking justice for all of our citizens.

We must prevail and keep our children and grandchildren able to exist in a free society just as we have in the past.
